Awards:<\/span> 45th Congress of the S\u00e3o Paulo State Society of Cardiology<\/span><\/h3>\n

On June 19th, 20th, and 21st, the\u00a045th Congress of the S\u00e3o Paulo State Society of Cardiology<\/strong>\u00a0(SOCESP) was held at the Transamerica Expo Center in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0SOCESP Congress<\/strong>\u00a0is a distinguished event, aligned with the latest international proposals and protocols in the specialty. It ranks among the five largest and most prestigious cardiology congresses in the world, offering a comfortable space for professional updates, technological innovation, discussions with leading experts, and opportunities for young cardiologists, allowing knowledge to be shared seriously and openly.<\/p>\n

Among the various topics covered, some studies were selected for awards. This year, the highlights were:<\/p>\n

Prof. Ludhmila Hajjar receives Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig Award<\/span><\/h3>\n

Recognition by the S\u00e3o Paulo City Council honors the career of the FMUSP full professor in public health and academia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prof. Ludhmila Abrah\u00e3o Hajjar, full professor of Clinical Emergencies at FMUSP, received the Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig Award at the S\u00e3o Paulo City Council on Monday, December 2, 2024. The ceremony was broadcast on the City Council Portal and official channels.<\/p>\n

The initiative recognizes women scientists, physicians, and health professionals who have stood out in scientific research or in advancing medicine. Councilwoman Sandra Tadeu, the award\u2019s founder, congratulated the professor for her brilliant career and honored her on behalf of all residents of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe career of scientist Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig is marked by scientific excellence and commitment to public health, reflecting values we recognize in Dr. Ludhmila, who fights for science-based medicine,\u201d congratulated the councilwoman.<\/p>\n

In her acceptance speech, Prof. Ludhmila said she felt honored to receive an award bearing the name of scientist Ruth, who was also a USP professor and a pioneer in studies for the development of a malaria vaccine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no doctor without a team, nor scientist alone, without structure, without university, without well-spent public money. I dedicate this award to USP, which today is recognized for public education and the quality we want for the professional training of the whole country. We want to train quality people who will work to build a better society,\u201d declared the professor, who received the tribute accompanied by her team and the USP Rector, Prof. Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Junior.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, the professor highlighted her more than 20 years at USP and received tributes from the attending councilors. They praised her leadership at the Hospital das Cl\u00ednicas during the COVID-19 pandemic and recalled that the doctor has been listed among the most influential scientists by a study from Stanford University.<\/p>\n

USP Outstanding Thesis 2022 awards Prize and Honorable Mentions to works from the Faculty of Medicine<\/span><\/h3>\n

The finalists of the USP Outstanding Thesis Award 11th Edition were announced on November 7, 2022, and a work from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (FMUSP) was honored in the Health Sciences major area. From the Cardiology Program, the thesis titled \u201cDischarge from myocardial revascularization surgery in patients with acute coronary disease based on platelet aggregability: a prospective randomized study,\u201d authored by Carlos Alberto Kenji Nakashima and supervised by Prof. Dr. Jos\u00e9 Carlos Nicolau, was awarded.<\/p>\n
